There are two places in Rosebug Oregon that I recommend right off the bat to anyone who wants to know more about computers.
Both of them have a lot the same atmosphere, but the people are always friendly and helpful to me, and best of all they explained every single thing I did not understand.
The first of the two is Community Computer Center. I like calling them on the phone for support. They offer quite a bit for anyone wanting to learn computers and also have a free software library as well as a lot of information on their blog. Their number is: 541-375-0448
Oops, I'm sorry, this business has changed from Next Generation Recycle to Going Green Recycle, it's the same services and phone number, though.
Their website is not yet available, but is planned for the future.
The 2nd one I recommend is Going Green Recycle. These guys are located next to Young's Garden and pets and in the past I have gone here for repairs.

Of course, this is also a recycling center. Their recycle program is excellent. They will take old computers, but now also items like old tvs and kitchen appliances. At one time they had to ask for a handling fee, but now that they are approved by the state, you can drop your old stuff off here for free, worry free!
"Worry free" because they make sure that things get recycled properly, too. Computer equipment [including monitors and printers and what have you] usually have useable parts in them that can be put to good use in other computers, and sadly they also have harmful materials like mercury that need special proceedures to be dealt with. Please don't just toss an old computer or monitor. Please take it to these guys so that even if it cannot be used for parts, that it can be processed so that all components are disposed of in a way that is least harmful to our weakening environment.
I hope this has helped you a little bit. I would much rather go to these places than the typical Staples or Office Depot when it comes to my computers. Mostly because I use OLD machines they don't service anymore. Sad, since the machines while old are still pretty dependable.
